Role of Assistant Junior Coach

These are the guidelines of the responsibilities of Assistant Junior Coaches for Farnham Park Baseball and Softball Club.

Responsibilities:

Assistant Junior Coaches are responsible to the Head Junior Coach of Farnham Park Baseball and Softball Club.

Skills required:

  • A knowledge and understanding of softball
  • Confident with good leadership skills
  • Enthusiastic and a good motivator
  • The ability to communicate with groups and individuals
  • The ability to listen to and mentor people

Main Duties:

  • To work with the Head Junior Coach
  • To assist with the junior coaching sessions as required
  • To develop and maintain high ethical standards in coaching, commit to develop their coaching knowledge and skills and assist in the preparation and running of each session
  • To undertake training appropriate to their role, e.g. Child Protection training
  • To ensure that all coaching/training sessions take place in a safe environment (undertake risk assessments
  • To offer feedback on players’ performances
  • To attend competitions with junior teams
  • To assist in the selection of teams
  • To attend junior club meetings and report to the main committee where appropriate
  • To inform the Junior Co-ordinator, in advance, of any sessions/games that can not be attended
